Discover Your Inner Hero!
We intuitively sense the importance of knowing ourselves at a deep level. Personality type is a key piece of this puzzle, providing a general map of our psychological territory. But type only tells us part of the story. It fails to capture the parts of our personality that make us unique individuals. In order to understand these unique roles and attributes, we need a different set of tools.
Building on Jung’s work, If I Was a Hero offers a fresh approach to working with the unique aspects of your personality, including getting to know your inner “hero.” It also helps you elucidate and envision the less conscious parts of your personality and to integrate them with the hero. Not only will you discover the unique set of characters that comprise your personality, but learn how to draw on them for growth, insight, and direction.
Highlights
- Clarifies the unique parts of your personality that extend beyond personality type
- Loaded with practical applications and exercises for self-understanding
- Helps you identify and envision the inner “hero “of your personality, as well as less conscious aspects
- Relates these various parts to your personality type’s functions (i.e., Ni, Fe)
- Employs imaginative techniques for integrating conscious and unconscious parts of ourselves (e.g., the dominant and inferior functions)

“ Testimonials ”
“Refreshingly Unique & Innovative”
-A.J. Drenth
“Having now worked with type for over 20 years, it’s easy to believe all the important ideas and approaches have already been worked out. Despite my initial skepticism, this book both surprised and delighted me. While rooted in Jung’s framework, it struck me as refreshingly unique and innovative. Not only did I find it conceptually intriguing, but took keen interest its creative and practical applications. Anyone seeking self-realization through introspection and the imagination should own a copy of this book.”
“Helped Me Clearly Define My Personality”
-E. Vitman
“For many years I was dealing with internal chaos, and I was often confused and disarrayed—both emotionally and intellectually. Reading this book helped me clearly define my personality, my psychological functions, and their corresponding complexes. It showed me my core capabilities and limits. As my internal world was crystalized, it helped me clear my mind and set tangible goals for myself. The exercises were a great practical guide for this process.”
“Meaningful Read to Begin Your Journey With”
-J. Rosenman
“This book was intellectually stimulating, yet earthly and straightforward enough to be actionable and practical. It has a refreshing way for us to envision our personal Hero’s Journey—a path of growth and maturing—sharply different from escapist pop psychology that spiritual-minded people can get distracted by. It’s a meaningful read to begin your journey with.”
“Resonated on a Deep Level”
-B. Bircz
“Goldgur’s book resonated with me on a deep level. Ever since I was young, I intuitively employed similar techniques, but I never imagined they could be developed into a full system which could be incorporated with Jungian psychology. If you want to know and develop your true self, I recommend you read this book.”
