Welcome to Personality Junkie! You can find our latest posts here. Ever since our founding in 2009, we have aimed to provide transformative insights and expert analyses through the lens of type. Viewing self-awareness as essential to a well-lived life, we strive to illuminate underlying psychological realities and “blindspots.” We believe that knowing and understanding your type, as well as your type’s functions (e.g., Ni, Fe), is critical for a number of reasons:
- Clarifying your strengths, identity, and life purpose
- Recognizing how your beliefs, values, interests, and motivations are shaped or influenced by your type
- Understanding your path to growth, including how less conscious elements of your personality may disrupt authentic development
We invite you to journey with us as we explore the deeper realms of the psyche, where the potential for true growth is made possible through the power of insight and awareness. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to help you gain clarity in your self-understanding. You can learn more about us on our About page and enjoy all our latest content by signing up for our newsletter.
If you still aren’t sure about your type, there’s no need to worry as you’re certainly not alone. It often takes months, sometimes years, to feel sure of your type. We also offer plenty of resources to help you discover your true type.
If you haven’t done so already, we suggest you start by taking our free online personality test, which will at least give you a ballpark idea of your personality type (e.g., INFJ). You might also want to check out our book, My True Type, which will equip you with the tools and insights required to nail down your type.
In addition, if you’re an introverted (I) intuitive (N) type, but aren’t sure whether you’re a judger (J) or perceiver (P), we offer a couple of unique personality assessments—The INFJ-INFP Type Clarifier and The INTJ-INTP Type Clarifier—that can help. Unlike more generic personality tests, these instruments are based on extensive research and observations of traits specific to these types.
If you’re seeking a better understanding of your type or personality theory, then Personality Junkie is the place for you. Those unfamiliar with the lingo used on this site, or who simply want a general introduction to typology, may want to start with our series of posts on personality type basics.
Those looking to go deeper are encouraged to explore our books. The 16 Personality Types features in-depth descriptions of the types, including their personality traits, functions, strengths, and weaknesses. It also examines important topics like type development and the inferior function.
The founder of this website, A.J. Drenth, has also authored the best-selling INTP book on Amazon, which dives deep into the INTP’s mind, personality, life struggles, and more.
Lastly, long-time Personality Junkie contributor Elaine Schallock just recently (August 2022) published her long-awaited INFJ book, Beyond Rare: The INFJ’s Guide to Cultivating Growth & Self-Awareness.
Intuitive types commonly describe themselves as “seekers.” This is particularly true of the INFP, INTP, ENFP and ENTP types—collectively known as the “NP” types. Open to new ideas, lifestyles, and possibilities, NPs are quintessential seekers and explorers. Despite their curiosity and penchant for novelty, they also seek a consistent sense of self and direction, one that can inform their careers, relationships, and other life choices. But understanding themselves and their direction in life can be a challenge for NP types, at times leaving them feeling lost, scattered, and full of doubt.
Fortunately, with the right combination of knowledge and skills, NPs can advance in their quest for a more fulfilling and purposeful life. With this in mind, we developed an online course—Finding Your Path as an INFP, INTP, ENFP or ENTP—to help you clarify your personality, life purpose, relationships, and career path as an NP type. It’s a doorway to transforming your inspiration into purposeful action and results.
